About

Name:VintagePretty

An avid tea-drinker who likes nutmeg in her coffee and warm lavender-scented quilts. She knits, crochets and partakes in random acts of craftiness (and kindness). She can often be found studying in a library which is nowhere as relaxing as the garden. She likes obscure works of literature, philosophy and the idea that her mind exists separately from her body. She enjoys moving furniture around, literary criticism and baking bread. She writes haiku about nettles, would like to swim with seals and become completely self-sufficient. She writes as if her life depends on it, listens to beautiful music, and loves her darling husband Mr. VP. Her life has changed dramatically since becoming a student, but she is learning that life is one wild and wonderful ride.

A holiday weekend

Last weekend, Mr VP and I went on a mini holiday.  We did a lot of travelling!  For him, it was a chance to leave work behind for a few days and escape to a very much-beloved place.  For me, it was the same – but in a totally different way.  He was having a break, I was running away from it all.

(One of) our favourite places to be.

The weekend was amazing.  As I said, it was a lot of travelling, but we enjoyed every moment of each others company.  We cooked together, laughed, went to the beach, gazed open-mouthed at the beauty of one of our favourite places and then slept.  We did a lot of sleeping.

Our first – and most important stop, on our getaway – was Bridport.  Our home-away-from-home (along with Glastonbury and Stockholm, obviously!).  We have nothing but fond memories of this place.  Of the cafés, shops, markets and life that happens in this wonderful vale.  Really – it is one of our favourite places in the world to be.

These paperwhites were found around St. Mary’s Church in Bridport, along with the path photo above.  Being around the scents, sounds and feeling of spring was wonderful.  Even better because I was with Mr VP.

We had a day of just being together.  Doing the things we used to do every weekend and took for granted.  We had coffee and cake, we shopped, we talked and of course, we had a lot of fun.  I relished not having to be anywhere or do anything.  No work, no stress, just us.

On days like today, which were bordering on abhorrent, I am glad I have days like this to remember.

  1. Memories of days like these stay with us forever….

How wonderful to see early signs of spring. It still seems a long way off here. How I miss seeing flowers in February!

Hope that your course is going well. I know that it will be tough, but keep your head down and you’ll get there.
