An avid tea-drinker who likes nutmeg in her coffee and warm lavender-scented quilts. She knits, crochets and partakes in random acts of craftiness (and kindness). She can often be found outside, in the garden with a cup of tea. She enjoys moving furniture around, growing her own vegetables and baking bread. She writes haiku about nettles, would like to swim with seals and become completely self-sufficient. She writes as if her life depends on it, listens to beautiful music, and loves her darling husband Mr. VP.

From the church fair

Though my days off don’t seem to be as long or as frequent or even as relaxing as perhaps I would like them to be, I do relish them when they happen. Today the sky was grey when the sun eventually rose over the horizon.  We decided we’d have a look around the closing sale of Borders (another victim of this recession – which means I’m once again confined to the awful Waterstones).  Any of the books I might have wanted were out of stock, it seemed there was very little left.  We did manage to get some stationary, but not much else.

On our way home, we came back past a local church fair and I managed to scoop some bargain Christmas decorations, including a set of vintage fairy lights!  There was music, good cheer and a real sense of festivity.  That’s what I’ll miss about the North East.

This afternoon I finished writing all of my Christmas cards (when you work with so many nice people, it’s difficult to not send so many cards) and am now left with present-wrapping and the time to finally enjoy Christmas.

Right now we have 2 more villages to make, houses to paint and cellophane windows to put in all whilst watching Christmas with the Kranks.  Perfect.

  1. Oh I love Christmas With The Kranks! I discovered the book a couple of years ago and then found out that there was a film version ~ such fun!

I love good humour, and Tim Allen.
